Gravajax Registration
I’d like to announce my new plugin ‘Gravajax Registration’. A simple plugin that adds a gravatar to your blog registration page, which automatically updates when an email is entered into the field. The idea is to make a new user feel like they are already a part of your blog’s community because their Gravatar is already there when they signup.
The meaning behind the name is obviously Gravatar + AJAX, since AJAX is used to update the gravatar without a page reload. To see a demo, head to my registration page, don’t worry though, you don’t actually need to register!
The plugin is currently very simple, and has no admin interface, it is an ‘activate and enjoy’ style plugin!
There are plans for a future version to check the Gravatar that is displayed, and if the user doesn’t have their own, then a message is displayed with a link to get one.
I’d also like to thank everyone on the WPTavern thread who helped me sort out a problem I had in making this.
You can download the plugin here: Gravajax Registration (175)

This is a neat concept behind this plugin. It would be great if you could make one for WPMU.
Thanks Joshua, I’m glad you like it! With the upcoming changes to the code base, I’ll probably wait and see what happens with WPMU, and if necessary I’ll make a modified version.
Thank you very much
i download it and am using it now in myblog
if you please visit and register on it
to check your great plug in
Hey, now that gravatar.com implemented the 404, you can make this work without the PHP code back on the server or the AJAX call to it.
Check this plugin: http://ottodestruct.com/blog/wordpress-plugins/gravatar-box/
Specifically, examine this bit of code: http://ottodestruct.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/gravbox/gravbox.js
Thanks for the heads up! I was going to look into checking the headers to see if the default Gravatar was returned, but now I guess I don’t need to! That instantly gives the plugin a lot more scope.
A new update is available to download. Thanks again go to Otto, for bringing the Gravatar 404 to my attention, allowing the plugin to now show a message only if no user Gravatar is returned.
Works great, thank you
